Talk about a good time – The Goodtime Hotel has been open less than a month, and it’s already a hit!
The Goodtime Hotel is revitalizing Washington Avenue and creating a sense of electricity throughout the city. And it’s thrilling to be a part of it.
The hotel is meant to be a getaway in a town that’s already known as a vacation spot. And it’s certainly well on its way of being just that. Plenty of locals, travelers, and celebrities have already spent time at the much-hyped-about hotel.
Based on Ken Fulk’s ingenious vision of old-Havana, ShadeFLA set out to create the essence of vintage at The Goodtime Hotel’s restaurant, Strawberry Moon, and the cabanas sprinkled around the pool area.
The wood that makes up the ceiling of Strawberry Moon, the backs of the cabanas, and the bar is ipe. Found in the forests of Central and South America, ipe wood is known for weathering beautifully. But we couldn’t wait for nature to weather it for us. So, we took matters into our own hands. Over the course of five months, we aged our ipe slats using wood saw horses and South Florida’s hottest commodity – the sun. We provided eight samples of hand cut ipe for the team to choose from for the perfect ambiance.
When it came time to select the fabrics for the cabanas, we wanted to make sure we left no stone unturned. We gave Ken Fulk over forty different fabric samples and trims from which to select the tropical shades.
The Goodtime Hotel is an ode to historic architecture and design. With summer a few short weeks away, use it as an excuse to enjoy the shade at the Goodtime Hotel and a truly unique South Florida vacation.
